Es ist an der Zeit eine kurze und erfreuliche Zwischenbilanz zu ziehen: Im April diesen Jahres wurde das Ambulanzzentrum von Children for Tomorrow mitsamt neuem Stiftungssitz auf dem Gelände des Universitätsklinikums Eppendorf eröffnet und schon heute werden die Räumlichkeiten und Betreuungsangebote rege genutzt. So hat allein Herr Rami Gaber, Oberarzt der Flüchtlingsambulanz, in dieser kurzen Zeit bereits 34 Kinder und Jugendliche behandelt, ca. 30 davon in regelmässigen Abständen. Die Mehrheit der Patienten stammt aus Afghanistan – aber auch Guinea, Iran, Irak, Palästina, Ägypten, Somalia und die Balkanstaaten zählen zu den Herkunftsländern der von Flucht und Verfolgung traumatisierten Kinder.
Die am häufigsten gestellte Diagnose ist eine posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung, gefolgt von Depressionen sowie Störungen im Sozialverhalten, welche mit verschiedenen therapeutischen Verfahren behandelt werden.
Wir freuen uns mit den Ärzten und Therapeuten, die mithilfe des neuen Zentrums noch mehr Flüchtlingskinder beim seelischen Wiederaufbau unterstützen können und sind gespannt auf neue Möglichkeiten und Projekte, wie zum Beispiel unsere “mobile Sprechstunde”, bei der unsere Ärzte in Flüchtlingsunterkünfte und Schulen fahren und dadurch auch die Kinder erreichen, die den Weg in unser Haus alleine nicht finden würden. In den nächsten Wochen werden wir zudem die Gesprächstherapie um nonverbale Therapiemethoden erweitern: Den Anfang macht im September der Start des kunsttherapeutischen Ateliers und gegen Ende des Jahres wird unser Angebot noch durch Musik- und Bewegungstherapie komplettiert.

when you had talked about how a 2 year old child suffered because of war and how when you saw it-changed your life.

I fully appreciate and support the amazing work that you continue to do for your wonderful foundation and i wish those in power ie, world governments would take a leaf out of your book and do the same for the children who are suffering from a similar situation / fate in their own countries and it goes un – noticed due to greed and it makes me very sad.
I just hope that you continue the expansion of your charity work to the children in the other parts of the world who are being neglected and not having their voice heard.
Im proud to see you do alot for the good of humanity.

Agree with you on Venus, her health comes first and foremost. Generally, Sjogren’s is mild when compared to most auto-immune diseases but when you are competing in an individual sport like tennis, it might be tough to compete day in and day out at a high level. All the best wishes to Venus.

You are a very kind person. I first became a fan of yours in 1989 and it was fantastic to meet you in 1999. You inspired me to play tennis since 1989 which I still enjoy today.
