My summer in Germany
Its become something of a family tradition to travel with the kids to Germany each summer to visit friends and relatives. This year was no exception as we traveled to my homeland in June. I also used the opportunity to catch up with some of my business partners and my foundation. As usual, the time passed much too quickly but we managed to see and do a lot.
Right at the beginning of the trip was a reunion with my long-time partner Adidas in Herzogenaurach. At an event on “Women in Sports and Business,” I got a chance to catch up with a lot of people whom I have met in the long years of our cooperation. Of course everybody had World Cup fever around that time.
Our schedule for this trip pretty much revolved around when Germany played it matches in the World Cup. Every broadcast became a family event and we cheered through each match with whistles and flags. The German team has impressed us all and one can only congratulate the young players. Their presence and their refreshingly aggressive offensive caught the attention of football fans all over the world. It was unfortunate that their terrific effort didn’t result in the title.
I also traveled several times to Hamburg on this trip. First, I was able to get more directly involved in several of my foundation’s, Children for Tomorrow’s, projects. In particular, our new therapy center required a lot of preparation and coordination. We also had to spend some time finding appropriate interiors and furnishings for the center.
I also visited a company in Hamburg, Rexona, a division of Unilever, with whom I was associated during my active career. Ushering in the restart of my partnership with the brand, the company organized a small fundraiser tennis tournament with the employees of the company at its headquarters in Hamburg: It was a small court but a total of 50,000 Euro were raised for charitable causes. With the Rexona-Team we managed to raise 25,000 Euro for my foundation CFT. I am really happy to to resume the partnership with Rexona as it is a personally trusted brand. Also, I had the opportunity to meet with a few Mrs.Sporty franchise partners to exchange experiences. We travelled in from Cologne to Milan to Linz in Austria, where new Mrs.Sporty clubs have opened.
In addition to professional activities, we can use the time especially to visit with our children in fantastic weather, the castles, places and landscapes of my home region, to meet relatives and friends and to have fun together.
Having recently returned from entertaining our summer trip, we very much look forward to the next summer in Germany.

I like watching her playing, and I got a pretty happy when I found this page by accident. I do not know dot if your read the comments, but I would ask: how children understand German or English only? And if I answer, also what are you current favorite players.

I was and still are a big fan of yours. I remember me watching your matches on tv and suffering and joying for every point. But what I liked the most was your persona. I would feel you being so strong and so fragile and sensitive at the same time, and I was feeling so close to you.
I don’t know why these last few days I have re-discovered your tennis matches on youtube and did some research on the internet and encountered this website by mistake. I am so happy to see that you are now an happy married woman, mother of two wonderful kids and just wanted to congratulate and say thank you for what you have done in sport and do today for less advantaged people. Hallo liebe Stefanie, auch ich hatte das Glück, Dir in Hamburg “Hallo” sagen zu dürfen, und ich habe mich so darüber gefreut. Das Event war ein sehr aufregendes Erlebnis und es wird für mich immer eine schöne Erinnerung sein. Ich danke Dir für die Worte, die wir kurz miteinander wechseln konnten, obwohl Du so in Zeitdruck warst, um Dein Flugzeug zu bekommen. Lass es Dir und Deiner Familie gutgehen und habt noch schöne Ferien in Amerika. Für mich beginnen am Wochenende auch endlich meine Ferien (4 Wochen)! Vielen dank fur die schoene YouTube Fereien Postkarte fur uns, von deinem schoenen Besuch und Tennis Tournier beim Rexona im Hamburg. Ich finde das YouTube video hoch schoen und interessant, und es ist schoen dich Deutsch sprechen zu horen, weil oft habe ich nur gehort deine Englische sprache hier am amerikanischen Fernsehen. Es geht ohne zu sagen , Du siehst fantastisch aus, schon, strahlend, und lachelnd. Es sieht aus als ware es wirklich eine “unheimliche nette atmosphare” !. Hamburg und deren leute sind eine die besten der Welt. Ich freue mich dass deine Stiftung ist in Hamburg und das der Rexona Tennis Turnier hat es auch geldlich geholfen. Es ist so ein wichtiges arbeit die du machst fur diese traumatisch psychisch verletzen kinder aus der ganzen welt.
Ich hab mich immer gefreut auf meine viele Verienzeiten in Europa, und besonders Hamburg und Deutschland. Ein Sommer, haben wir ein rotes VW Kafer von mein Onkel, Tante, und Cousine in Hamburg geschenk gekriegt, und dann durch ganzes Europa und Deutschland durchgefahren inclusif eine RheinReise und Rudesheim, und dann bis zum die Zugspitze, Kitzbuhl, Herrenchiemsee, und auch viel alles andere gesehen und mitgemacht, (Wenn mal zeit ist, solltest du mieten die DVD film EUROTRIP, haha ! Vielleicht wurdest du es lustig finden !)
Naturlich Hamburg hat so viel anzubieten, und die umliegende kreis Orte wie Molln, Lubeck, Groningen,Cuxhafen, Wyk auf Fohr, Ochsenwerder, Luneberg und die Luneberger Heide sind so schoen auch.
Meine erste reise nach Hamburg von New York war auf das Hanseatic, ein wunderbares tolles Schiff. Heut zu Tage, kann mann von New York nach Hamburg fahren auch auf dass grossten Schiff der Welt, das neuen Queen Mary 2 ! Das ist ein unglaublich grosses und schones Schiff auch ! ‘Guck mal die schonen YouTubes von ihre anfahrt an die Elbe in Hamburg an ! Sie fahrt gerade ab von das Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in New York diesen Sonntag 8/8/10 und kommt zu Hamburg an 8/16/10 an. Die Ruckfahrt nach New York verlasst Hamburg am 8/26/10. Ein Atlantisches Schiff kreuzung ist ein tolles und elegantes abendteuer !
Wir haben ein grosses Queens Grill Suite mit Balkon und viel platz schon gebucht ! Wollt Ihr doch denn nicht mitfahren ??

It’s great to know you had a wonderful vacation back in Germany. I was cheering for Germany too in the world cup. Even though they didn’t win the trophy, it’s nice to see such a young team do so well . So may be in the next world cup, there’d be some strong hope for the German team.
Btw, is there any way I can get notified automatically when you post new content? That way I don’t have to check back every now and then. I know wordpress has this feature.

Hi Steffi, ich als alter (41) Steffi Fan vergangener Jahre, habe dich nun endlich auch mal “zivil” in HD getroffen! Ich war mit Frau und kids in der Unteren Strasse unterwegs und du bist mit deinen Kindern uns entgegengelaufen. Ohne Trubel und Menschenmassen… Leider war ich so im “Schockzustand”
, dass ich nicht einmal ein Hallo rausbrachte. Vielleicht beim nächsten mal….
