Happy New Years!

I hope everyone is having a happy new year so far. For the new year, my whole family spent our time in the mountains skiing, snowboarding and sledding. There was a lot of snow and luckily no injuries, and so it was a very relaxing start of the new year for us.
Now I’m charged and ready for the coming year working with my foundation and partners to achieve some big goals, including the completion of the new trauma center for refugee children in Hamburg.
I just wanted to take a moment to wish success and many beautiful moments for everyone in 2010.

auch bei mir ging heute die Arbeit wieder los. Ich habe meinen Weihnachtsurlaub sehr genossen und denke, dass ich jetzt auch im Jahr 2010 angekommen bin. Bei uns ist derzeit sehr viel Schnee und man muss sehr vorsichtig fahren. Ich wünsche Dir und Deinen Lieben auch alles Gute und vor allem Gesundheit für 2010. Da ich ja fast in Hamburg wohne, interessiere ich mich sehr für das Traumazentrum und die damit verbundene Arbeit Deiner Stiftung. Ist es auch möglich eine Patenschaft für ein Kind zu übernehmen? Über eine Antwort würde ich mich sehr freuen.
Viel Kraft weiterhin für Deine Arbeit.

Danke für Deine Antwort. Hab mich sehr darüber gefreut. Ich habe schon alles über Deine Stiftungsarbeit gelesen und spende auch seit 1996 jedes Jahr dafür. Es macht mir sehr viel Freude, auch einen kleinen Beitrag zu leisten und etwas zu geben, um Kindern helfen zu können.
Wir haben hier immer noch Winter. Es liegt sehr viel Schnee und es soll auch noch weiter schneien.

No juego mucho tenis pero estoy tratando de reencontrarme con el deporte nuevamente. Seguro este año va a ser especial. Ya mis hijos de 4 y 5 años están tomando clases.
Veo que están contentos, ojalá sigan así.

And I congratulate you for your wonderful work with children affected by trauma and the goal of completion of the trauma center for refugee children in the beautiful city of Hamburg this year. It’s great that you are helping the most vulnerable and innocent victims of trauma, the children of the world, and may it bring peace, joy, health and strength to the many children affected.
I know Hamburg very well, and have visited it many times, as my cousin and her family live there as well as other relatives. I always enjoyed taking the Alster Boat Tours, visiting the Alster Pavillion and the great Hamburger Hafen as well. Harald Duwe, one of Hamburg’s modernistic well known painters was one of our relatives, too, and his painting of one of the Hamburg Mayors hangs in the Rathaus as well. It’s a wonderful city and I enjoy their tradition of setting off fireworks for New Year’s. We should do it in New York also !

Last June when I saw you moving around the grass exhibition against Clysters, I told someone–Clysters would be a top 10 player and you could be a top 20 player if you wanted.
Although you stepping out at the top of your profession made sense.
Amazing with Date, I saw her play in July at 38 and she was pretty impressive.
You must be dealing with alot of feedback on the book by your talkative husband, best of luck with that!

Hi Steffi, you have always been an inspiration to me growing up. I used to play with my sister and I always had to be Steffi with my Steffi raquet and Stefi top my favourite things. It inspired me to play tennis competition and I enjoyed watching all your matches. Thanks for the memories.

The book was stunningly well written. I felt inspired and privileged to read about your lives, and was moved to find that such a huge celebrity and star athlete could be so warm, generous and human.

I too recently finished Open, and I am a tennis fan of your era/age. I congratulate the both of you for a thoughtful, non salacious biography. The book is about family, and your jobs were tennis. Not everyone does love their jobs, but both of you brought passion, and dedication to it. And gave tennis fans much to enjoy.
The best to you and your family and foundations. We are visiting Las Vegas with our children next month, maybe we will run into you all at Red Rock.

Where do you recommend for skiing? I was at Northstar/Tahoe this past weekend (Incline Village, NV) but I’m always interested in new places.

I just finished Andre’s book and WOW. I’m so inspired and impressed by his story and how open he was (no pun intended). Could you please provide a link to his website? I could not find it and I would love to post my recommendations. I’m recommending it to friends even if they don’t play tennis. Thanks in advance if you happen to pass that along.

Dear Steffi,
You tennis career was such a huge part of my life. Some of us have not yet been fortunate enough to find our ways in life but tennis a lot of times is what kept me moving forward. Still to this date I have not found anyone who inspired my days so much.
One time during the women’s hardcourt tournament in San Antonio Texas I was a volunteer driver for the players. This was when you played Monica in the finals. I was the only African American, probably in the entire stadium but I still took a chance to ask if I could drive Steffi. I was told more than likely not. Much to my surprise my name was called the day of the semi-finals and I was beside myself. I not only got the chance to drive you to your hotel but later in my own car, a little blue Toyota Corolla, I got the chance to drive you to dinner, Pizanos and then to the Spurs game. I got the chance to tell you that no matter what, you are number one in my book and that remains to date. The most important thing I experienced was to actually see the warmness of your heart. I was so nervous I could barely speak during this experience but I remember being so touched by the warmness you showed to me without us exchanging hardly any words. I will never ever forget that experience.
Oh yea and after you won the finals, I got the chance to really smile with you. No one believes me when I tell this story because I cared so much I did not want to bother you to take pictures but the pictures remain in my mind.
I am so happy for you everytime I read something about you and your beautiful family.
I continue to wish you all the happiness in the world. Keep up the good work of giving. I am trying to learn to do the same.

Je travaille depuis maintenant 15 ans pour les enfants et familles en difficulté. J’ai commencé en France. Je suis originaire d’Afrique (de Côte d’ivoire). Je vis au Canada depuis 4 ans. Je suis de formation juriste mais j’ai quitté le droit international et ma carrière dans les grands organismes internationaux pour m’occuper des personnes en difficulté en étant proches d’elles, en tooute simplicité et désintéressement!
Je vous écris car je suis très impressionnée par ce que André et vous faites pour les enfants en difficulté, aux USA (avec l’Agassi academy), en Europe et en Afrique (avec Children for tomorrow)
Je voudrais vraiment avoir la possibilité de vous rencontrer et de vous exposer un projet dans le domaine de l’éducation en Afrique et au Rwanda ou les gens ont été praticulièrement meurtris par la guerre et la haine.
Comme vous, je pense que l’éducation est fondamentale.
Je pense qu’au delà de donner aux personnes ce dont elles ont besoin, il est bon de les amener à satisfaire leurs propres besoins, les amener à être maîtres de leur vie, à construire leur vie, une société de paix et de prospérité. Et Cela passe par l’éducation! L’éducation au delà de l’instruction. L’instruction permet in fine d’avoir une métier, de faire valoir ses talents dans la société. L’éducation plus fondamentale permet de se construire en tant qu’être humain, d’avoir des valeurs qui permettent de refuser l’exploitation, le meurtre, la haine à l’égard d’autrui, l’éducation permet de devenir des êtres humains dignes, solides, forts et heureux!
Je ne parle pas très bien l’anglais car autour de moi on ne parle que français mais je le comprends assez bien. Je pense que dans certains pays en Afrique, le français vous sera d’une grande utilité puisque c’est la langue de plusieurs personnes en Afrique. Aussi s’il vous intéresse de m’entendre sur le projet d’éducation en Afrique, ou simplement de lire mon dossier et mes propositions à ce sujet, il me fera plaisir de vous le partager.
Je peux aussi vous êtes utile dans vos actions en Afrique, étant de culture mixte (africaine et européenne).

Wann endlich schließt Du für immer Deine unmoralische Institution? – Urbi et Masturbi -’. Ich finde es einfach widerlich, wie manche Perverse sich noch darüber lustig machen.
Ich glaube, dass es auch nicht in Ihrem Sinn ist, wenn Ihr Name auf dieser Seite zu lesen ist. Manche glauben ja, dass auf ‘Facebook’ tatsächlich die richtige Steffi Graf ist.
Ich empfinde ich es als meine Pflicht. Ihnen dies mitzuteilen, denn ich möchte nicht, dass Ihr Name im Zusammenhang mit solchen Perversen beschmutzt wird.
